The major cause of stress in our lives is the emotions we have attached ourselves to and have then found hard to let go of. Emotional Freedom Techniques are a newly discovered approach to release yourself from stress and the negative emotions that have taken hold and hindered your psychological, as well as physical, well-being.
How EFT Works
Whenever we think of an unpleasant experience that we have gone through, we produce negative emotions that cause a disturbance in the flow of energy around the body. Tapping lightly on several of the known acupressure points whilst keeping focused on the stressful problem you want to address unblocks what is believed to be an energy flow that had been disrupted or blocked by an emotionally negative response to something in the person’s life. We may still be able to recall the memories that caused the original upset or trauma but they are now no longer associated with stressed or negative emotions and can be talked about quite calmly.
Benefits of EFT
From the above brief explanation, we can see that the major benefit is that
EFT relieves stress and frees us from anxiety and associated physical
problems. The EFT therapy tapping technique helps to dissipate an energy block
that has led to a block in healthy flow and functioning and kept the ‘darker view’ in place. As a result of this
emotional freedom, the body’s functions are enhanced and our overall
enjoyment of life increases. We are able to feel well, relaxed and
healthy
Major conditions
EFT is a technique or energy therapy that is used to help us heal from the intense emotional reverberations caused by Trauma such as forms of physical abuse, as well as treating rather specific fears like proclaimed phobias and extreme self consciousness. Thus, increasing self assurance and freeing us from the worries of actions like public speaking, which then, more specifically, leads to better performance and enhanced ability to concentrate at work.
Mental Health
By the same method, EFT improves mental health as it treats distressing conditions such as depression or dwelling anger. when our world is no longer clouded by anger, sadness or apathy we are then able to enjoy life more, be more flexible and see things more clearly. As the anger or depression recedes, something else comes in to fill the gap and this can be more positive feelings and a more relaxed attitude. This would end up having a positive effect on physical health as well, as the body’s secretions of “feel-good” hormones increase and blood pressure starts to stabilize.
Eliminating Stress-related patterns
EFT also works on treating the unhealthy physical habits that one often forms as they undergo stress. Some of these include sleep loss or insomnia and addictive behaviours such as smoking and food cravings or nail biting.
On another note, EFT can be used alongside the treatment of physical illness to relieve stressful emotions that accompany the condition. Many people have found that EFT tapping brings about an improvement in mood and attitude, for example in relation to the stress of an illness. Some have even reported that eft reduced the need for reliance on heavy drugs and sometimes surgery. This is because, as research or case studies have indicated, the body’s immunity system thrives on low stress levels so it would perform more actively toward attacking the disease and reducing or eliminating pain.
Basically the practice of EFT on a regular basis can have the effect of supporting improved mood, better health and relationships. Although it doesn’t always work all of the time, Gary Craig, the founder of this method claims that it works about 90% of the time. The success of healing through EFT is likely to lead to a better self-image, increased self confidence and improved self esteem. What I think is particularly useful about the Emotional Freedom Technique, and I have used it regularly myself for all kinds of issues, both physical and emotional, (and continue to do so) is that it is easy and simple to do and can be applied across a wide range of problems. If many of these issues are stress inducing, we now have a way to ‘nip them in the bud’ and take the helm in managing our health naturally and in quite an empowering way.

Stress and EFT was where I had one of my very first EFT Champagne moments. Magically stuff. It is well worth giving this a go.
